In the Urban Priestess Mystery School, the Wheel of the Year is churned through the zodiac house of Aquarius by the Priestess archetype of the Visionary.

Aquarius is 11th of the astrological houses. This is the structure that invokes and honors vision, forward thinking, innovation, humanitarianism, originality, community and collaboration

Aquarius invites you to step into your unique power and look ahead with clear sight.

You are the source of what gifts this world is calling for; you are the cutting edge.

The Aquarian Visionary attunes to her innermost knowing to create offerings that express her unrivaled individuality and that also serve the collective. She does not balk in the face of big dreams, for she understands that through crystal clear perception and with the support of rallied allies, any kind of future is possible. The Visionary inspires bigger picture thinking and forward momentum.

To be a Visionary is to trust your own keenness, and to be open to the bigger picture.

With the turn of the new moon, a new beginning, it is a potent time to accept the Visionary’s guidance toward realizing your grandest visions – especially if they involve breaking new ground.

Some valuable traits of the Aquarian Visionary are:

  • Trail-blazer
  • Philanthropic
  • Eccentric
  • Inventive

A few shadow qualities are:

  • Over-analytical
  • Scattered
  • Idealistic
  • Distracted

The new moon moves into Aquarius at 1:05pm PST on February 15th.

The New Moon is when the Sun and Moon are aligned, with the Sun and Earth on opposite sides of the Moon. This leaves the side of the Moon facing the Earth in complete darkness, which is why we can not see the New Moon.

Set New Moon Intentions & Vision

Acknowledging the new moon within the lunar cycle is a potent way of connecting with the rhythm of nature. The new moon also embodies renewal and rebirth, a sacred pause in between doing to gather your focus in growing once again.

The journey of an Urban Priestess is about tapping into deepest desires, seeing them clearly, acting with discernment and then powerfully voicing your truth.

Set aside time at each new moon to clear your slate and start anew – whether you are beginning fresh intentions or continually nourishing existing ones.

For this Aquarius New Moon, curate items that speak to you of the Visionary, reflect truthfully in stream of consciousness writing and conduct this ritual of activation.

Create a Sacred Space. Create an altar for the new moon to concentrate your intentions and physical energy. Find a space in your home that is dedicated to cultivating spiritual practices.

  • Some Aquarian crystals are: aquamarine, amethyst, garnet, fluorite
  • Goddesses typically associated with the Visionary: Athena, Saraswati, Oshun
  • Items that represent the Visionary Priestess: talking stick, feathers/wings, bright candles, written statements of your intent

Remember that the most aspect of constructing an altar or ritual is that the objects involved hold symbolic power for you.

Trust your intuition. Stand by your intentions.

In this simple, personal ritual that follows, you will need:

  • A journal and pen
  • Any candle; but if possible, in a bright shade of blue
  • A ceremonial water container and access to water

Begin first with some form of embodiment, whether you practice movement or just take a few moments to check in and cultivate a full body presence. Sit in stillness and allow your vision to arise and come into focus.

Open your journal and write at the top: “I know my own Visionary power.” Set a timer for 3-5 minutes then follow in the next line with “I know…” Begin to write continuously, without pause, until the timer goes off. During your allotted time, just keep going. Try to write so fluidly that you barely close sentences or stop to check what you’ve written so far. Stream of consciousness writing is enacted exactly as it is named: unleash the words that cover your vision.

After you complete this writing exercise, sit still once again and feel the energy you have stirred within.

Hold out your candle with your left hand. With your right, the side of fiery, activated meridians, light the wick whilst focusing on the ignition of the flame, speak your intention clearly and directly, envision this flame giving spark to your vision to come to life. Gaze at your flame for a minute or so, with your vision clearly set. Put it out with a great puff of blessing breath, to honor the air element of Aquarius.

For the water bearer sign, go fill your container (this truly can be any vessel that appeals to you) with water, carry it with intentional, meditative steps to the nearest plant (if none are present, you may simply run it over your hands in a sink) and pour out the water, the element of life, whilst picturing the nourishment of yourself and your vision.

Remember to speak a prayer to close your ritual space. Thank your spirit guides, allies and self for having the courage to activate your Vision.

The most potent time for manifestation is the 48 hours once the new moon begins, so it is best to get in the habit of setting your intentions within those first 2 days.
